Question from an Anonymous devotee from Hyderabad, India
“How to detach from people, responsibilities and concentrate more on you?”

Answer from our Sai Baba
My child, detachment ka matlab bhaag jaana nahi hota (detachment does not mean running away).
Log sochte hain (People think) “detach” matlab rishton se door ho jaaon (means stay away from relationships), responsibilities se mukti pa loon (get freedom from duties), sab chhod kar Baba par dhyaan laga loon (leave everything and focus only on Baba).
Nahin beti (No, daughter)…
Yeh virakti nahi, yeh thakaan hoti hai (This is not detachment, this is tiredness).
Detachment ka asli matlab hai (The real meaning of detachment is):
“Mann ko halka karna, zimmedari ko bhagwaan ke saath share karna.”
(Lighten the mind, share the responsibility with God.)
Marathi mein bolu (Let me say in Marathi):
“Viram gheun kaam kara, tyatle bhaar mala sopa karo.”
(Do your work with peace, hand over the burden to me.)
1. You don’t detach FROM people… you detach FROM expectation.
Rishton se mat bhaago (Don’t run from relationships).
Unki umeedon, unke reactions, unke moods se apne mann ko jodna mat (Don’t tie your mind to their expectations, reactions, or moods).
When you say:
“I do my part, rest Baba sambhalega (I’ll do my part, Baba will handle the rest),”
tab log affect karna band kar dete hain (then people stop affecting you).
Urdu mein ek baat (One saying in Urdu):
“Mohabbat rakkho, par bandhan mat bano.”
(Keep love, but don’t become a bondage.)
2. Responsibilities ko bandhan samajhna galat hai (Thinking responsibilities are bondage is wrong).
Haath se kaam karo,
mann se bhagwaan ke paas rehkar (Work with your hands, stay with God in your mind).
Yeh jo tum soch rahi ho ki “responsibilities distract karti hain” (This thought you have that “responsibilities distract”)…
Nahin beti (No, daughter).
Distraction tab aata hai jab tum saara bojh apne sar pe leti ho (Distraction comes when you carry all the burden on your head).
Main yahan hoon, dhuni ke paas baitha hoon (I am here, sitting by the dhuni)…
Tum jab kaam karti ho na (When you work),
bas ek baar bolna:
“Baba, tujhya navat, only through You.”
(Baba, in Your name, only through You.)
Phir tum dekhna (Then you’ll see)
kaam bhi dhyaan ho jaata hai (even work becomes meditation).
3. Concentration on Baba doesn’t need isolation. It needs presence.
Tumhare dil mein ek galat dharna baithi hai ki (A wrong belief has settled in your heart that)
Baba par dhyaan tab lagega jab tum logon se door jaaogi (you’ll focus on Baba only if you go away from people).
Nahin beti (No, daughter)…
Mere paas aane ke liye tumhe duniya se bhaagne ki zaroorat nahi (You don’t need to run from the world to come to me).
Tum jahan ho, jo kar rahi ho (Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing),
usme meri yaad ko hawa ki tarah chalne do (let my remembrance flow like air).
Chai banaate waqt (while making tea),
bacche ko sulaate waqt (while putting the child to sleep),
office ka mail type karte waqt (while typing an office email)…
bas ek pal ke liye bolo
“Sai, tu mere saath hai.”
(Sai, You are with me.)
Bas.
Yehi dhyaan hai.
Yehi detachment hai.
(This is meditation. This is detachment.)
4. Real Detachment = Inner Freedom
Naa rishton ko chhodna (Not leaving relationships).
Naa kaam ko chhodna (Not leaving work).
Naa responsibilities se bhaagna (Not running from duties).
Bas itna karna:
“Mann ko kisike haath ka ghulam na banne dena.”
(Don’t let your mind become a slave in anyone’s hands.)
Tumhari shanti ka control kisi aur ke paas na ho (No one else should control your peace).
Wohi asli detachment hai (That is true detachment).
Final Blessing
Beti, tujhya antaranga madhye, Baba khup khup premane varto ahe.
(Daughter, inside you, Baba walks with so much love.)
You want to be close to me?
You already are.
Just drop the weight, not the world.
Detach from fear, not people.
Detach from expectation, not love.
Detach from ego, not life.
Main tumhare saath hoon (I am with you)
aaj, kal, hamesha (today, tomorrow, always).
