Question from Sunil R Nair from Singapore

"Happy Thursday to you, Baba. How are you Baba. With Your blessings, I am doing well, Baba. Baba, I'm having a few mental issues related to stress. I am forgetting a lot of things. Sometimes when I say a sentence to a colleague, I repeat the sentence the next day to the same person again. Also, I suffer from lack of self-confidence in tackling any issue (Office/home). I go cutthroat or shout at my office personnel or my family members, Baba. I love You always, but forget You at times while taking food or during work on a critical issue. I am getting worried because my current salary increment might be less as mentioned in the company's report yesterday. Swami i am becoming very lazy now. I am not able to check my rented house repairs, as I fear what the landlady of the house will say. I broke her things. I am scared to talk to her or her agent. Is it because of my lack of self-confidence, Swami? I surrender to You, Swami, and whatever happens will happen, but please teach me how to remember things, what I have studied, etc. How to remove fear and have self-confidence while talking to people, and please pray for me for the lady to be happy that I didn't break anything. Also, one humble request, Swami. How to keep myself calm, Baba, in front of my wife and her family and in any situation when they criticise You in front of me, Swami. I get angry and then forget my focus on what I am doing, Swami and then I need to start again. Please advise me Swami, how to keep focus on my work, remembering You always with me and not multitasking, which I am currently doing, which is giving me more problems. Swami Please help us and guide me, Baba, please."

Answer from our Sai Baba

Sunil beta, sit for a moment and read this without hurry. I am speaking to you with care and firmness, because your state needs grounding, not guilt.

First, hear this clearly.
What you are experiencing is stress overload, not loss of intelligence, not lack of devotion, not weakness of character. When the mind stays tense for long, memory slips, anger bursts, confidence drops, and fear grows. This is how the nervous system reacts when it is exhausted.

Dimag thak gaya toh yaad bhi thak jaati (when the mind gets tired, memory also gets tired)

About forgetting and repeating things

Repeating sentences, forgetting what you said, losing track of tasks, these are common signs of anxiety and mental fatigue. Fear occupies mental space, so recall becomes poor.

This does not mean your brain is damaged. It means it needs rest, structure, and reassurance.

man damla ki buddhi guntate (when the mind is exhausted, intelligence gets tangled)

About anger and shouting

Your anger is not aggression by nature. It is pent up fear and pressure leaking out. When fear has no outlet, it turns into shouting.

dar dabaya toh gussa nikalta (when fear is suppressed, anger comes out)

You must promise yourself one thing.
No shouting while the body is tense.
When you feel heat rising, step away, drink water, walk, breathe. Speak only after the body cools.

About confidence and fear of people

Fear of your landlady, fear of salary increment, fear of criticism, all come from overthinking future outcomes.

Confidence is not bold speech.
Confidence is clear action in small steps.

For the house issue
Call once, speak honestly, accept responsibility calmly. Avoiding the call increases fear more than the call itself.

pal kadhla tar bhiti vadhte (when you avoid, fear increases)

About salary increment and laziness

When expectations rise and control feels low, the body slows down. This is not laziness. This is emotional shutdown.

Do not measure your worth by increment letters. Do your work sincerely and steadily. Value comes from consistency, not from one report.

About remembering Baba during work and food

Forgetting remembrance does not mean distance. Baba never asked for constant mental chanting. He asked for right conduct.

Kaam imandari se karna bhi yaad hai (doing work honestly is also remembrance)

Choose one anchor only
Before starting work, one breath
Before food, one silent bow
That is enough.

About criticism of Baba by wife or others

This is important. Listen carefully.

Do not defend with anger.
Do not argue to prove devotion.
Silence with dignity protects peace more than words.

jhagda bhakti nahi hota (argument is not devotion)

Your calm response is your devotion. Baba does not need defending. He needs you healthy and balanced.

About focus and multitasking

Multitasking is harming you. Stop it.

Do one task fully.
Finish it.
Then move to the next.

ek veli ek kaam (one task at one time)

What you must do now

Fix sleep time
Reduce caffeine
Walk daily
Write tasks down
Consult a doctor or counselor for anxiety, this is wisdom
Speak gently to yourself

Sunil beta, hear this final truth.

You are not broken.
You are overloaded.
And overload can be reduced.

May fear loosen its grip on your heart, may your mind regain clarity step by step, may anger soften into understanding, may courage return quietly, and may peace grow in your home and work.

Parvardigar mehrban rahe.
