Answer from our Sai Baba
Beti, read this calmly and let your breath settle first.
Your worry for your little one comes from love, not fear. At 2 years and 10 months, children show wide variation in speech. Some speak early, some later, and many catch up beautifully when given the right support.
Mulanchi bolnyachi gati vegli vegli aste (each child’s speech develops at a different pace)
Now listen carefully and without panic.
About your son’s speech
Not speaking like peers does not automatically mean something is wrong. Speech delay can happen due to
late bloom in expressive speech
less exposure to conversation
bilingual environment
frequent screen time
mild hearing or oral-motor issues
Most of these are manageable with early guidance.
abhi ghabraane ka waqt nahi (it is not time to panic yet)
What you should do now
Please take these steps gently but firmly.
One. Get a speech and hearing evaluation.
Consult a speech-language therapist and do a basic hearing check. This is guidance, not labeling.
Doctor ke paas jaana kamzori nahi (going to professionals is not weakness)
Two. Talk more, test less.
Talk to him during daily activities.
Describe actions, name objects, sing rhymes.
Avoid asking him to “say this” repeatedly.
bol bolun shikavla tar mulga bolto (when taught through talking, the child begins to speak)
Three. Reduce screens strongly.
Mobile and TV delay speech. Replace screen time with face-to-face play.
screen kam, baat zyada (less screen, more conversation)
Four. Celebrate attempts, not perfection.
If he points, babbles, or gestures, respond warmly. Communication starts before words.
Important truth for you as a mother
Your anxiety can reach him. Children sense worry. When you stay calm and encouraging, progress comes faster.
aai shant asel tar mulga nischint hoto (when the mother is calm, the child feels secure)
Many children who start late go on to speak clearly and confidently. Early attention is protection, not fear.
May your son’s words begin to flow naturally, may the right guidance reach him at the right time, may your heart feel reassured, and may his voice blossom with confidence and joy.
Ram ji bhala kare.
