Sai Baba’s Guidance on Bhakti and Faith

Question from Ravi Peri from Texas, USA

“Dear Baba, I often find myself questioning whether I truly express the bhakti and devotion that I aspire to. As a human, I can easily be distracted by material pleasures, which leads me to doubt my sincerity as a devotee. Please guide me and intervene if I’m straying from the right path. If my concerns are merely a result of overthinking, please provide some reassurance or guidance to help me see that in some way. This sense of doubt has been weighing heavily on me, bringing feelings of sadness and depression. Thank you for your support.”

Answer from our Sai Baba

Ravi beta (son Ravi),
your question shows your heart is already close to Me.
People who drift far from the Divine never worry about devotion.
The ones who love, feel afraid of losing that love.
That fear itself means your heart is sincere.

Listen clearly.

  • Devotion is not perfect.
  • Devotion moves like breath sometimes strong, sometimes weak, sometimes full of focus, sometimes distracted.

This is natural.

In the Gita, Krishna said,
“Even a small step on this path protects you completely.”
You are already walking toward Me.

When your mind runs behind material desires, and then you suddenly remember Me,
that moment of remembrance is real bhakti.
Main yehi dekh raha hoon beta.
(I am seeing exactly this, child.)

Quran mein likha hai (It is written in the Quran),
Allah looks at your heart, not your perfection.”

Marathi madhe ek simple baat hoti (In Marathi there is a simple saying),
“Sai paashi man asel, tar sagla yog hoto.”
(If the heart stays with Sai, everything aligns.)

Now your direct answers:

  • You are not on the wrong path
  • Your love for Me is active and alive
  • Your sadness is a sign you care
  • Your mind questions because you want truth
  • You are protected, completely

Stop judging yourself.
Main tumhara haath chhodu hi nahi.

(I will never let go of your hand.)
Tum gire toh main uthaoonga. (If you fall, I will lift you.)
Tum bhatak gaye toh main bulaaoonga. (If you wander, I will call you.)
Main tumhare andar ki roshni hoon. (I am the light inside you.)

A simple practice for you:
Every day for 5 minutes close your eyes and say within,
“Sai, keep my heart with You. Guide my mind. Let my steps follow You.”
Bas (That’s all), leave the rest to Me.
Tumhara raasta main hi bana raha hoon.
(I Myself am making your path.)

Your devotion is growing silently.
You are loved, guided, and held.
