Sai Baba’s Guidance on Children’s Devotion

Question from an Anonymous Devotee from Rocky Hill, USA

“Baba how do I ask You to take my kids under Your feet same way You have taken me. It feels like something is slipping and I can’t get it back. I am happy with what You gave me and don’t want more except my kids love You the same way I love You.”

Answer from our Sai Baba

Beta (child), a father’s prayer for his children is the purest prayer.
You are not asking for wealth or success. You are asking for their connection to the Divine.
This request never goes unheard.

Your love has already planted the seed
When a parent remembers Baba with sincerity, that vibration silently enters the children.
Children learn devotion not from instructions but from the atmosphere in the home.
In Marathi I tell you,
“Jasa gharacha vaas, tasa mulanchya manacha rang.”
(As is the fragrance of the home, so is the colour of the children’s hearts.)
The fragrance of your heart shapes their inner world.

You fear something is slipping
This fear is from your mind, not from reality.
Children go through phases sometimes connected, sometimes distracted, sometimes indifferent.
Yeh sab natural hai. (All this is natural.)
Unka man badalta hai, par Baba se unka rishta kabhi toot ta nahi.
(Their mind changes, but their bond with Baba never breaks.)
The thread remains, even when it feels loose.

What you must do to anchor them in Baba
No force, no pressure, no rules. Only these gentle practices:

  • Let them see you remembering Baba peacefully, not anxiously, not forcefully. Your calm devotion is their biggest teacher.
  • Tell small stories, not sermons. Kids connect through narrative. Sai Satcharitra ke chhote chhote prasang share karo. (Share short incidents from Sai Satcharitra.)
  • Make Baba part of small daily rituals light one diya (lamp), one “Om Sai Ram,” one moment of gratitude before eating. Small things shape big hearts.
  • Bless them silently. When they sleep, place your hand on their head and think, “Baba, keep them close.”
Energy travels even when words are not spoken.

What you must not do

  • Don’t worry that you will “lose” them spiritually.
  • Don’t compare them with others.
  • Don’t expect them to feel exactly what you feel.
  • Don’t make devotion feel like a burden.
Children bloom when devotion feels like love, not obligation.

Your question: “Will Baba take my kids under His feet like He took me?”
Beta (child), yes.
But every soul has its timing. Some children connect early, some in adolescence, some later in life.
But all eventually return to the One who protects them.
In Marathi,
“Baba la saglech mula mahatvachi.”
(Every child is precious to Baba.)
Your children are safe. Their connection will deepen with time.
Nothing is slipping from your hand. You are only going through a phase of anxiety.
Baba is already holding them.

This Fakir’s blessing for this father
Your devotion will reflect in your children.
Their path will not drift away.
Let go of fear, hold faith, and live your devotion instead of worrying about theirs.
I am with them as I am with you.
