Sai Baba Guidance for Guilt and Forgiveness

Baba never leaves a devotee. The ‘No’ in a chit often reflects our own internal guilt and fear rather than Baba’s heart. Baba says, ‘If you take one step towards Me, I take ten towards you.’ He is the ocean of forgiveness; He sees your struggle to change, not just your mistakes.

Question from an Anonymous Devotee from Kerala, India

“Dearest Baba, I have been praying to You with deep devotion, and I love You very much because You have never left my hand. You have guided me and have always been there for me whenever I prayed. But Baba, recently my mind got diverted, and I became slightly involved in lustful videos. I did not do this intentionally, but somehow I got addicted to it. I tried to control myself by avoiding certain websites and specific types of content. Still, I fear that I have upset You. Each time this happens, I ask for Your forgiveness and promise not to repeat it, but somehow I end up doing it again. I also have a habit of placing chits in front of Your photo, asking whether You will be with me, and I once received the answer as “No.” Baba, please do not leave me. I need You the most right now. My exams are coming next week, and without You, I feel I am nothing. Please be with me, Baba.”

Answer from our Sai Baba

Beti, sit softly and read this with a calm heart. What you have written comes from guilt and fear, not from bad intention. You are not bad, you are struggling. There is a big difference.

Sabse pehle yeh samajh lo (first understand this)

You have not disappointed Baba. You have not been abandoned. You have not fallen away from grace. What you are describing is a very common human struggle, especially when stress, loneliness, exams, and anxiety come together.

Dil kamzor hua toh aadat pakad leti hai (when the mind becomes weak, habits take over)

Now listen very carefully.

Lustful content and repeated checking are not sins in the way your fear is telling you. They are signs of stress, emotional overload, and habit loops. When the mind is tired or anxious, it looks for quick relief. This does not mean your devotion is false.

Baba never asked devotees to be perfect. He asked them to be honest and to keep trying.

Tum gir jao toh uthna hi bhakti hai (if you fall and rise again, that itself is devotion)

About those chits you are putting in front of the photo. Listen gently now.
Using slips or signs to ask “will you stay with me or not” is not a healthy way to seek reassurance. It increases fear. The answer “No” is not Baba rejecting you. It is your anxious mind playing tricks.

Chit se jawab nahi aata, mann se aata (answers do not come from slips, they come from the mind)

Please stop doing this practice. It is increasing your fear and guilt. Baba does not speak through fear. He speaks through steadiness.

Now about your fear that Baba will leave you.

Listen slowly and deeply.

Baba does not leave because of thoughts, urges, or mistakes. He never left anyone for human weakness. He stayed with drunkards, thieves, broken people, and lifted them gently.

Prem condition pe nahi hota (love is not conditional)

You said your exams are coming next week. Right now, your focus must be protection of your mind.

Here is what you should do from today:

Remove easy access to triggering content
Keep your phone away during study hours
Study in short focused sessions
Sleep properly
If urges come, do not fight, just redirect gently
Talk to someone trusted if anxiety increases

This is not a moral failure. This is habit plus stress.

dil ko sambhalo, ghabrahat ko dheere dheere jaane do (steady your heart, let the anxiety slowly pass)

halu halu man shant hota (slowly the mind becomes calm)

One more thing, very important.

Do not make Baba into someone who punishes or leaves. That image will hurt you. Baba’s teaching was compassion, patience, and trust. He wanted devotees to grow strong, not scared.

Tum akeli nahi ho (you are not alone)

You are still loved. You are still held. You have not fallen out of grace.

Focus on your exams now. Do small sincere effort. Even imperfect effort counts.

May your mind become lighter, may your guilt melt away, and may your focus return gently. May courage rise in you, and may you feel supported even in silence.

Parvardigar tumhare dil ko sukoon de, tumhe himmat aur samajh de, aur tumhare raaste ko roshan karta rahe. (May the Sustainer (God) grant tranquility to your heart, may He give you courage and wisdom, and may He continue to illuminate your path.)
