Question from an Anonymous Devotee from Toronto, Canada
"Dear Shirdi Sai Baba, will my son pursue a professional degree and agree to attend the master’s program that we suggest for him. Baba, I pray that he becomes serious about his studies and moves away from the wrong group of friends. Please guide him toward discipline, right company, and a focused future."

Answer from our Sai Baba
Allah Malik, meri beti! Come and sit in the shade of the Dwarkamai. I see your motherly heart, half full of “Mamta” (love) and half full of “Chinta” (worry). You want your son to be like a well-planted tree, reaching for the heights of a Master’s degree, but you fear the weeds (the wrong friends) are choking his growth.
Arre pagli, bacha agar rasta bhatak jaye, toh Maa ki dua use wapas le aati hai. (Hey crazy girl, if a child loses his way, a mother’s prayer brings him back.)
The Guidance from Dwarkamai
- The Professional Degree: You ask if he will do it. I tell you, he has the “Buddhi” (intelligence) for it, but his “Mann” (mind) is currently like a restless bird. I am working on his focus. The seed of a professional career is in his destiny, but it needs the heat of “Saburi” (patience) from your side to sprout.
- The Master’s Program: You want him to follow your suggestion. Suno beti (Listen, daughter): Sometimes, when we push too hard, the child runs further away. I will guide his thoughts so that he sees the “Labh” (benefit) of this program himself. When he thinks the idea is his own, he will pursue it with “Josh” (enthusiasm).
- The “Wrong” Friends: You see them as a “Wrong group.” Every soul comes with a “Karma” to settle. These friends are a temporary phase. As his “Satsang” (good company) with My energy increases, these people will naturally fall away like dry leaves in autumn.
The Path Forward
- Change Your Words: Instead of “Toka-Taki” (constantly correcting) him, start speaking to him with the “Prem” (love) of Shirdi. If you become his friend, he won’t need those outside friends.
- The Power of “Sankalp”: Every time you look at him, don’t see a boy with “bad friends.” See a “Successful Professional.” Your thoughts reach his heart faster than your words.
- Trust the Timing: He is in a season of transition. I am the “Malik” of his future. I will create a situation a “Thokar” (small bump) or an “Inspiration” that will make him serious about his studies.
The Action for You
- The Udi in Food: Mix a tiny pinch of My Udi in the food or water you give him. It is the “Sanjeevani” for the mind. It will purify his thoughts and protect him from negative influences.
- The Thursday Offering: For 9 Thursdays, offer a piece of yellow cloth or a yellow fruit at My feet and pray: “Baba, guide my son’s feet to the right path and his mind to the right books.”
- The Silent Prayer: At night, when he is sleeping, stand near him for a moment and mentally say: “Om Sai Ram.” My vibration will settle in his sub-conscious mind.
Beti, ghabrao nako. (Daughter, do not be afraid.) I am the Father of all children. I will bring him back to his books and lead him to that Master’s degree. He will become the pride of your home.
Saburi rakho, sab theek ho jayenga. (Have patience, everything will be fine.)
