Are board exams and NEET preparation causing panic, numbness, and emotional breakdown? Sai Baba Guidance For Board Exam And NEET Anxiety speaks to students overwhelmed by pressure, fear of failure, and family expectations.
Question from an Anonymous Devotee from Maharashtra, India
"Baba, I am not understanding anything. I know my exams are in 20 days, but I am still not studying everything. My brother's health, people’s behaviour, and my low grades are stressing my parents, and I am feeling more stressed. You saw last night that I was crying like crazy for hours, but Baba, I myself don’t know why I was crying. I was just crying. Everything is now too much for me, Baba. I can’t take this anymore. I always feel that whatever my father says about me comes true. He said that my soul is dead, “aatma melay tuzha.” After he said that, I genuinely feel like my soul is dead. I have boards in 20 days and NEET in one month. Baba, kasa hoil? Kay hoil mazh Baba? I don’t feel anything. I am all numb. I am not living, I am just passing days, Baba. Baba, help me. Vachva mala."

Answer from our Sai Baba
Beti, please read this very slowly. Pause after every few lines. What you are describing is emotional overload and numbness, not weakness, not failure, not a dead soul.
First, hear this clearly, because it is very important.
Your soul is NOT dead.
What you are feeling is called emotional shutdown. When pain, pressure, fear, and responsibility pile up together, the mind protects itself by going numb. Crying for hours without knowing why, feeling nothing afterward, confusion, this is the mind saying “I cannot carry so much alone.”
Tum zinda ho, par bahut thak chuki ho (you are alive, but extremely exhausted)
The words your father said, “aatma melay tuzha” (“your soul is dead”)
were spoken from frustration and ignorance, not truth. Words spoken in anger are not destiny. They do not define you.
shabda jakhmi kartat, satya nahi ghadvat (words can wound, they do not create truth)
Now listen carefully, beti.
About your exams, boards in 20 days, NEET in 1 month
Right now, your mind is not in a studying state. And that is okay. When the mind is flooded, forcing study only increases breakdown.
Do NOT try to “finish everything.”
That thought is crushing you.
abhi sab kuch karna zaroori nakko (right now, you do not need to do everything)
For the next 48 hours, this is the only goal
Sleep properly
Eat something warm
Cry if tears come
Do NOT touch syllabus except light reading
This is not wasting time.
This is stabilising yourself.
About crying and numbness
Crying without reason means the heart is releasing pain stored for long. Numbness afterward means the system is overloaded.
This is a signal, not an end.
Vachva mala, tum bol rahi ho (save me, you are saying)
Hear this with care.
You need human support immediately.
This does NOT mean you are weak.
It means you are brave enough to say “I cannot do this alone.”
Please do at least one of these TODAY
Tell your mother clearly how you feel
Speak to a school counselor or teacher
Ask your parents to take you to a mental health professional
Call a trusted adult
Madat ghenyaat laj nahi (there is no shame in taking help)
About feeling you are stressing your parents
Parents are stressed because they are scared, not because you are bad. Your life is more important than any exam.
pariksha peksha jeevan motha (life is bigger than exams)
One very important thing
If at any moment you feel like
“I cannot take this anymore”
or
“I don’t want to exist”
Please tell an adult immediately or contact a local mental health helpline.
You deserve support now, not later.
I am speaking firmly because you matter.
You are not broken.
You are not dead inside.
You are overwhelmed.
This phase will NOT decide your whole life.
Exams can be postponed, attempts can repeat, but you are irreplaceable.
Now listen to this last line slowly.
Tumhala vachavayla pahije, ani te shakya aahe (you need to be saved, and it IS possible)
For now, just breathe.
Reach out to someone today.
Do not stay alone with this pain.
May protection surround you, may the heaviness reduce step by step, may the right help reach you quickly, and may life slowly return to your senses and heart.
Allah Malik.
