My whole life, I was convinced that I had bad luck attached to me at all times. Everything I wanted in life would always appear as though I was going to get it but I never did. I am currently a senior in high school. I am smart, and I am hard-working, but the one thing I felt I lacked was luck and blessings.
I come from a Hindu family, and my mom is a staunch devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba. As I entered the college application process, I went through a deep depression over the past couple of months. The one college I thought I would safely get accepted to turned out to become ten times more competitive this year. I thought to myself, “Wow, just another bad luck occurrence for me.” I was getting rejected everywhere else, and somehow I managed to get deferred from this school. That was my first sign of luck.
But my depression continued to deepen. I thought there was no way I would get accepted into this school, especially because so many candidates with better grades were getting rejected.
I was never as devoted to Hinduism and God as my mom is. It can’t be a coincidence that my mom always manifests good things. People always call her a lucky charm. I thought to myself, “How is my mom so lucky and I am so unlucky?” I realized it was because my mom manifests so much good luck through her devotion. Whenever I see her praying, I see her trembling with emotion. This was so inspiring. In the midst of my deepest depression a few months ago, I decided to devote myself and surrender my worries to the one and only Sai Baba.
I started reading the Sai Satcharitra whenever I was feeling sad, and it brought me so much peace hearing others’ stories. I was embarrassed to tell my mom about my newfound devotion because it was such a big change from who I used to be. But one day, I told my mom I had started reading Sai Satcharitra, and she got very upset with me. She said that Sai Satcharitra is not just any novel to read in my free time while lying in bed or at school. It is a holy book that should be read with utmost attention and sincerity.
That week, we began Sai Baba’s pooja and started reading on Thursday, finishing on Wednesday. We read together, we laughed, cried, and cherished all of Sai Baba’s stories together, and my mom and I became inseparable in our bond.
I was still feeling depressed, but it was different. I was sad, but I knew Sai Baba would do right by me. Suddenly, all the pressure I had placed on myself was relieved. I became more content with my daily life, seeing Sai Baba in everything around me whether living and nonliving. I realized this way of life was healthy and uplifting.
After I finished Sai Satcharitra, I continued to research Baba to consolidate my faith. That’s how I came across this beautiful platform for Sai Baba devotees. I promised Baba that if I were to get accepted into this college, I would post my story among various other things.
Yesterday, I received my acceptance letter. I thought it would be impossible, but Sai Baba was with me the whole time, helping me through it all.

Om Sai Ram. I want to thank Baba for a few things this past week. Sorry Baba for the late posting, please forgive me Baba. I was in a difficult situation last week and I caused the situation. It was so foolish of me to do that and furthermore I extended it for a few days and caused a drama and I should not have done that. I prayed to You Baba that I promise I have learned my lesson and I will never do that again and prayed that if the situation is solved by You Baba then I will share the experience and yes Baba by Your blessings it was solved and I was so relieved and happy Baba. Thank You So Much for solving it Baba and I promise I will surely never repeat that mistake again. Thank You So Much Sai Baba. Baba thank You also for letting me get the call last week and the other day also. Baba thank You for making my special day so nice and for all the special calls Baba. Baba thank You also for solving the situation that night also Baba and for not letting us get in trouble for the lateness and for anything else also Baba. Thank You Baba for everything last week and for helping me get to class on time also even with so much traffic. Thank You for helping me return that item safely Baba also. Thank You Baba for always being there for me. Thank You So Much Sai Baba.
