I am sharing this story about how Baba helped me fulfil my wish for a simple curtain. After getting married, I moved into my in-laws’ house, where there were no curtains except for the windows. I asked my husband to arrange a curtain for our bedroom because it was visible from the dining room. We have an open kitchen next to our room, and anyone going to the kitchen has to pass by our bedroom. I felt uncomfortable during the day, as I couldn’t keep the door closed all the time. I spoke to my husband, but he said they didn’t want to drill holes in the walls as it might cause cracks. We argued many times about this, but nothing changed.

I explained that I couldn’t sleep or relax peacefully and requested him to talk to my father-in-law. However, he kept postponing it. Every time my FIL or relatives passed by our room, or when people sat in the dining room, I felt uncomfortable because I couldn’t move freely with the door open. I asked my husband to talk to his father again, but he was hesitant and afraid his father would refuse.

One day, I decided to speak to my FIL myself. I told him we needed a curtain for the room as it was clearly visible to everyone. He agreed but didn’t take any action afterward. I informed my husband that I had spoken to his father, and he assured me that his father would take care of it. But after a month, nothing happened. When I asked again, my husband said his mother told him that carpenters weren’t available. I waited another month, but they continued to ignore the issue.

This led to a big argument between my husband and me, and I cried, feeling frustrated and unheard. I didn’t want to stay with my in-laws, as it was causing distance between us, but our financial situation didn’t allow us to move out. I also struggled with my mental health after marriage because there was no proper communication in the house. My MIL would cook only what she liked, and I often didn’t like the food. She forced us to eat what she prepared, and as a new member of the family, I hesitated to speak up. She also never communicated with me properly.

Feeling overwhelmed, I decided to start the Nav Guruvar Vrath for my mental health, as I was depressed. While commuting to work, I did the pooja for nine weeks without lighting a lamp or offering prasad and flowers. I didn’t fast, but I read the stories and mantras. During this time, my cab driver told me about the Urban Company app, where I could book services for household issues. With courage, I booked a carpenter through the app without informing anyone beforehand. I told my husband after the payment was made, and he was shocked. He told me to cancel the booking because his father would be angry that we didn’t consult him first.

The next day, I informed my FIL about the booking, explaining that I had already discussed it with his son and that carpenters weren’t coming. My FIL asked me to cancel the booking, saying he had plans to construct two rooms above and shift us there, but I told him it would take at least six months. I explained that we were uncomfortable and unhappy in the current situation, but he still didn’t accept what I was saying. He even suggested locking the door instead of installing a curtain. After some discussion, he finally agreed to let us install the curtain.

We bought all the materials, and the carpenter arrived on time. He suggested drilling nails into the door instead of the walls, which my FIL was happy with, and I agreed. Finally, after all the pain, tears, and arguments, we were able to hang the curtain in our room, with Baba’s blessings. I believe it was Baba Who gave me the courage that day.

But Baba, please help us move to a better place where we can live happily. I don’t want to stay with these people anymore. I’ve been suffering for two years, and my emotions and feelings are continuously hurt. I request all Sai devotees to pray for us so that we can live peacefully without any more arguments.
