These incidents occurred over a few weeks in August 2023. I wanted to apply for a passport but realized I did not have a birth certificate. My mom and aunt searched everywhere at home for this certificate but could not find it. So they went to the district hospital to request a new birth certificate. However, they asked us to share the discharge certificate, which we also did not have. We then requested the hospital authorities to kindly check the birth register entry for me. After many days, they found my birth entry, but it had a different birth date than my official documents, which have my real and true birth date. We then discovered that the hospital authorities had made an error.
Now we face a bigger problem. I was born almost 40 years ago, and it’s only now that we need all these documents. My parents had to visit the court and file an affidavit for issuing both the discharge and birth certificate. In the meantime, I was browsing Instagram and happened to see Sai Baba’s message: “Stop worrying and learn to trust. The door may be closed, Yet He knows which lock to unlock and when, and He alone holds the master key.”
We did everything from our end. Then, after all the running here and there, exhausted and tired, we were sitting and having tea the next evening, discussing how much trouble we had to go through due to not having a birth certificate. We were feeling somewhat disheartened. Then, in the next room, suddenly my dear grandmother, 84 years old, called my name. I stood by her, and she said, “I think this document will help you all,” and handed me a small piece of paper. She had opened an old purse from an old iron trunk, which she dragged and opened by herself, without anybody’s help. This piece of paper was my mom’s long-lost delivery discharge certificate with my correct date of birth. I hugged and thanked my grandma and Baba. I remembered Baba’s Instagram message from the day before. With the help of this, I was able to obtain my birth certificate from the municipality. The birth certificate granting process takes almost 3 months, but due to Baba’s blessing, we got it within a week! This is a miracle, and now I am awaiting my passport. 🙂
